7/13 notes & Know Your Farmer


We’re back! Thanks to all those who tried out our online ordering system last week. We welcomed a number of new customers! We will offer online ordering again the next time the Saturday Market is closed—during the October Storytelling Festival.

For Saturday’s market, 7/13:

Berries, berries, and more berries—multiple vendors have crops coming in!

Music: Rural Route Bluegrass Band

Special tomorrow: Community Days at the farmers market! We will have three community-benefit groups setting up in front of the courthouse tomorrow:

  • ReadNPlay Healthy living activities for kids,including a kids play market area
  • Relay for Life Get involved and support this event—takes place July 20 in Jonesborough
  • Rainbarrels Being sold by donation to benefit the Boone Watershed Parnership

This week in the rotating craft/specialty booth:

  • “All Nature Sings,” herbal soaps
  • “Earth Thyme Cleaners,” natural household products

Market open for July 8th pick up


Greetings once again, on-line shoppers. Get all your favorite Saturday market items delivered to the Visitor’s Center for your convenience. Meats, cheeses, produce and more available on line instead of at the Saturday market this week.
On-line ordering closes on Sunday, July 7th at 3:00 p.m.
Vendors deliver between 4:30 and 5:15 at the Visitor’s Center on Monday, July 8th.
Customers may pick up their orders from 5:30 to 6:00.

Online market tomorrow & online farmer of the week


Happy 4th of July, everyone!

The online market will open tomorrow, bright and early—it will take the place of our Saturday market (missed due to the Jonesborough Days festival) so you don’t have to miss out on your favorite local meat, cheese, veggies & eggs! Keep supporting your local farmers and place an order this week!

Online ordering will open on our website starting Friday at 8am. Order thru Sunday at 3pm, and pick up your goodies on Monday July 8th at 5:30pm.

You will get a message when the market opens! Complete ordering instructions on our website.

Blackberries, black raspberries, and blueberries (limited quantities) along with stringless green beans will be making their season debut at the market tomorrow!

Music: Two sets of musicians to entertain you! ETSU Old Time students followed by Michael & Sam Jones

Thinking about canning your favorite market produce this year? Get ready with a free canner check-up! Washington County Extension Agent Elizabeth Elizondo will be at the market to test canners, and share canning info & recipes. Bring your canner lid!

  • “Momma Chappell’s Herbs and Art,” Everlasting wreaths,Lavender wands, Woodland Bark Art, Re-purposed and painted clay pot shards, Garden Spades, Pussy Willow Branches, Fresh Cut Flowers, and Herbs and Mosaic Pots and plants
